Betting Strategies in Roulette

Are betting strategies in roulette effective? Firstly, lets look at the history of the game which has some considerable bearing on the answer to that question.

Roulette is a game that dates back to 1655. It was created by Blaise Pascal and means ‘small wheel’ in French. To begin with it was only played in monasteries for entertainment but was soon adopted by French casinos where it soon caught on as a popular game of chance. There are many legends about roulette, the most widely quoted one being that if you add up all the numbers on a roulette wheel you get the number 666 – the sign of the beast. It wasn’t until the late 1800s that the game was played in America and they introduced a slightly different version. So does it make a difference to the players which one they play? You bet it does!

Now back to the betting strategies and what to do. Firstly, the two variations of roulette. European is the most popular one, mainly due to it’s lower house edge at 2.63%. The other, more modern variation, is American roulette which has an extra slot numbered 00. It was introduced by the US casino owners who liked the profit generated by the original version, but wanted to increase their return, and by adding the 00 they lifted the house edge to 5.26%. So the first way to improve your chances of winning at roulette is to simply avoid American Roulette tables like the plague!

Now lets looks at the actual bets and odds (all figures are for European Roulette). A Straight Up bet (betting on just 1 number) offers a 35-to-1 payout but the actual odds of the ball landing on the number you pick are 1 in 37. The gap is where the casino makes it’s profit. Whilst a return of 35/1 looks good on paper it is a risky bet to place so use it sparingly. Other bets are available and they range from betting on two numbers (called a Split Bet) to betting on red/black, even/odd or low/high and these last three options offer the shortest odds of Evens (1-to-1). So if you concentrate on these three, along with Column Bets (covering 12 numbers) or Dozen Bets (also 12 numbers but in different blocks) you will be increasing your chances of getting a return. This doesn’t mean you should completely ignore the longer-odds bets though, just adopt a strategy that will see you get a small return often, rather than a big return but infrequently. The latter route is sure to send you broke!

One thing to remember with roulette is that it is a random game. Therefore the results of one spin have no bearing on future spins. Just because the last 5 spins have landed Red, doesn’t change the odds of the next one being Red too. The roulette wheel has no memory!

If you place most of your bets on the short-odds ones, with just a small percentage of your cash on the long odds bets, you will see a steady return, but not much of a profit. You do need to mix in a few of the Straight Up, Split and Street (3 numbers) bets to try and get a profit boost, but not too many. And remember, only play on tables with one 0 – avoid the 00 at all costs! So there are betting strategies in roulette that work, just remember to use them next time you play at a casino.

The Roulette Betting Strategies That Work For Me

Roulette is one of my favorite casino games which able to make me some winning money especially from online casinos. Although I did not win at all my bets, but I am able to exit with net winnings almost daily by using some of strategies I picked from free casino eBook with titled “Roulette Winning Betting Strategies Revealed”. Let me share one of the strategies that work for me.

I was invited to review the eBook with titled “Roulette Winning Betting Strategies Revealed” written by Kevin Belington. I found that it is one of the best free e-books that disclose most of betting strategies taught in other casino ebooks that sell for money. Kevin, the author of the book had explained the common strategies used by most casino players and how these strategies may cause risks if the outcomes are not results as expected. Then, he explained how he modified the common strategies so that the strategies work best for him and help him to win at casinos consistently.

I try to test each strategy at the online casino recommended by the author since I am also a registered player for that online casino. Basically, the betting strategies work find as the strategies had tried to take into consideration of various outcome possibilities. But, I found that not all the strategies suit my playing characteristics. And, these strategies will even work best for me with a minor modification. Let review one of the strategies of my best pick from the book:

64% Column/Line Betting Strategy

This strategy required you to wait for 4 consecutive Roulette’s outcomes to fall on the same column or line before you place your bet on the two columns which are not the outcomes. You need to triple your betting amount on each loss and you need to take the loss if the next 3 consecutive outcomes continue to fall on the same column as the last 4 runs when you start your bet.

How I Implement It

Although the 4 consecutive outcomes fall on the same column or line are common for Roulette, and most of time, I will be able to make winning within the next 3 runs. But, I would like to play safe and take care of the worst scenario I ever met such 8 consecutive outcomes on the same column/line and 6 consecutive outcomes on the same columns with 2 turn of zero; I always wait for 6 consecutive outcomes to happen on the same column/line before you start my bet; and I make sure my bankroll have enough money to cover to next 3 runs when there is a need to increase my betting amount if I hit the loses.

By tightening the condition from 4 consecutive outcomes to 6 consecutive outcomes that fall on the same column/line before I start my betting actions, I will need to wait at a long time for the condition to meet, but it helps me to cover for the worst condition and minimize the risk of losing my money.

Summary

The free ebook, “Roulette Winning Betting Strategies Revealed” basically is a good casino playing guide, but you need to use the strategies smartly and implement them in the best way that work best for you.

Martingale, Ant-Martingale and Pivot Roulette Strategies Explained

The Martingale Roulette strategy is one that is often used, but many argue it’s validity. It’s a very simple strategy based on even simpler mathematics.

It simply says that every time win you bet the amount equal to the initial bet. When you lose you double the amount of your initial bet until you win again. Each time the player loses he/she doubles the amount of the previous bet. This is to make up the money that was lost on previous bets and still make a profit on the current bet. Bets should only be on either evens/odds, red/black or high/low.

The major disadvantage of this system is that a player may go through a very long losing streak. This means that, because the player doubles up on his/her bets each time he/she loses, he/she could end up wagering huge amounts to recover the losses. This makes the Martingale Roulette strategy very dangerous.

The Anti-Martingale strategy works just the opposite. A player doubles is/her wager after each win. When the player loses, the wager reverts back to the initial amount.

The Pivot strategy has been in operation for hundreds of years. It basically says that some roulette wheels are not as random as they should be. Observant players can easily pick up on this.

Because of the unequal distribution law, which the Pivot strategy supports, the ball will land in certain numbered slots more than others. There are 38 numbered slots on the roulette table, meaning that for the ball to land in the same slot the odds are 38-1. However, the Pivot strategy says that the same slot will be the winning slot after 24 spins.

Write down the numbers on which the ball lands over a 38 spins. Look at the number that gets repeated during that time. That is the number to wager on.

Keep betting on the same number for 38 spins. You should, according to the Pivot strategy, win before 38 spins are completed. This means you will make a handy profit within each cycle. Should you only win the 38th spin you reached a tie and should look for another number to wager on. This also applies should the player not have won after 38 spins.

It should be noted that no strategy can guarantee success. Einstein is quoted as having said that the only way to make money with roulette is to steal it when the dealer is not looking.
